橡胶带式真空过滤机是一种以真空负压为推动力实现固液分离的设备。真空负压(0.04-0.07MPa)的作用下，悬浮液中的液体透过过滤介质(滤布)被抽走，而固体颗粒则被介质所截留，从而实现液体和固体的分离。其在结构上过滤区段沿水平长度方向布置，可以连续完成过滤、洗涤、吸干、滤布再生等作业。
